Lyrics: Carl Boberg (1859 – 1940) English Translation: Stuart K. Hine (1899 – )
O Lord my God, When I in awesome wonder
Consider all The works Thy Hand hath made,
I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,
Thy pow’r throughout The universe displayed;
Chorus: Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
Then sings my soul, My Savior God, to Thee,
How great Thou art! How great Thou art!
When through the woods And forest glades I wander
I hear the birds Sing sweetly in the trees;
When I look down From lofty mountain grandeur
And hear the brook And feel the gentle breeze;
When Christ shall come, With shouts of acclamation,
And take me home, What joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow In humble adoration
And there proclaim, “My God, how great Thou art!”
Scripture reference: Psalm 145:1-7,   1 John 3:16-20
Do you ever take time to consider how great our LORD is?
I am a visual person and so I need to see something to really begin to understand it. Nature has been a perfect vehicle to see the greatness of God. In His creation, I see the Creator.
Every child and grandchild I have been blessed to hold shows me our great God. Each child so very different and yet perfect in his/her uniqueness.
Standing and gazing at the Rocky Mountains or the Blue Ridge Mountains or Niagra Falls – it brings me to tears of thanks. How great is our God that He would create all of this? Snowflakes, butterflies, flowers, animals, – and the list is long. All a reflection of our great LORD and His great love.
